IOC Director of Communications, Mark Adams was quick to clarify when asked if there were other candidates for the 2034 games responding with 'The ones [Olympic Host Candidates] that are public you know about, but as you know with our process not all bids have to make themselves public.' The International Olympic Committee singled out Salt Lake City at the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai, India on Sunday October 15 as the only public interested party for the 2034 Winter Olympic Games. In a presentation given by Karl Stoss, the Chair of the IOC’s Future Host Commission for the Olympic Winter Games he said that Salt Lake City has already secured all guarantees for the 2030 & 2034 games. The IOC also ratified the recommendation of the Future Host Commission to green light the process of issuing a double award for the 2030 and 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games without objection. This escalates the standard timeline of awarding the 2034 games to a host and puts Salt Lake City as a front runner being the only public bid to have secured all guarantees for the 2034 games. While these announcements bode well for a future Winter Olympic Games to be held in Salt Lake City they do not yet constitute an announcement of award to Salt Lake City for the 2034 Winter Olympic Games.
