Patients with one-anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) can develop gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The nature of this GERD (acid or biliary) remains unclear.
To assess the nature of GERD via impedance pH testing in patients presenting with reflux post OAGB.
Retrospective analysis of a prospectively collected database of 43 patients with OAGB backgrounds who developed postoperative GERD and were investigated with impedance pH monitoring between 2006 and 2019.
Mean age was 52.48 ± 9 years. Mean body mass index (BMI) prior to OAGB was 46.82 kg/m
. GDC-1971 None of these patients had clinical GERD before surgery. The median time interval between surgery and investigation with 24-h impedance pH monitoring was 64 (56) months. The mean BMI at the time of investigations was 32.67 ± 6.9 kg/m
. The type of reflux was acid in 13 (30.2%), non-acid (biliary) in 12 (27.9%), and mixed (acid and biliary) in 5 (11.6%) patients. However, it remained not confirmed in 13 (30.2%). Median DeMeester score was 48.95 (27.67) in patients with acid, 2.8 (7.4) in patients with biliary, and 28.7 (5.6) in patients with mixed reflux. Median percent of time spent with pH < 4 was 9.65 (8) in patients with acid, 0.6 (1.75) in patients with biliary, and 7.7 (3.9) in patients with mixed reflux.
Acid reflux seems to be as common as bile reflux in patients presenting with GERD after OAGB. In case of revisional surgery for severe GERD post OAGB, 24-h impedance pH monitoring could be essential to determine the surgical procedure of choice.

The extent to which these behaviors are rewarded with popularity within a classroom-so called popularity norms-and their interaction with individual characteristics could explain the observed differences in risk behavior. 1860 adolescents (Mage = 13.04; 50% girls) from 81 different classrooms reported three times during one academic year about their own and their classmates behavior. Overall, in vocational tracks popularity norms for alcohol and smoking were more positive and predicted classroom differences in alcohol and smoking. Knowledge about classroom processes can advance the field in unraveling the functional aspects of risk behavior in adolescence. Both the efficiency and stability of PSCs have increased steadily in recent years, and the research on reducing lead leakage and developing eco-friendly lead-free perovskites pushes forward the commercialization of PSCs step by step. This review summarizes the main progress of PSCs in 2020 and 2021 from the aspects of efficiency, stability, perovskite-based tandem devices, and lead-free PSCs. Moreover, a brief discussion on the development of PSC modules and its challenges toward practical application is provided.
We aimed to use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to determine the relationship between the pathological depth of invasion (DOI), undetectability, and tumor thickness of squamous cell carcinoma of the floor of the mouth.
We retrospectively evaluated the relationship between pathological DOI and MRI detectability, as well as the relationship between pathological DOI and tumor thickness on coronal fat-suppressed contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging or coronal T2-weighted imaging.
We analyzed 30 patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the floor of the mouth; MRI revealed that the pathological DOI of the 11 undetectable lesions (median 2mm) was smaller than that of the 19 detectable lesions (median 14mm) (p < 0.001), and the cut-off value was 3mm (sensitivity, 0.84; specificity, 0.91; area under the curve, 0.89). Tumor thickness on coronal fat-suppressed contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging was assessed in all 19 detectable lesions; however, tumor thickness on coronal T2-weighted imaging could not be assessed in eight cases. Tumor thickness on coronal fat-suppressed contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging was found to be significantly associated with the pathological DOI.
Undetectability on MRI indicates superficial lesions with a pathological DOI value that is less than 3mm. In detectable lesions, tumor thickness on coronal fat-suppressed contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging is associated with pathological DOI.

Over-activation of the complement system plays an important role in inflammation, tissue damage, and infectious disease severity. The prevalence of MERS-CoV in Saudi Arabia remains significant and cases are still being reported. The role of complement in Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) pathogenesis and complement-modulating treatment strategies has received limited attention, and studies involving MERS-CoV-infected patients have not been reported. This study offers the first insight into the pulmonary expression profile including seven complement proteins, complement regulatory factors, IL-8, and RANTES in MERS-CoV infected patients without underlying chronic medical conditions. Our results significantly indicate high expression levels of complement anaphylatoxins (C3a and C5a), IL-8, and RANTES in the lungs of MERS-CoV-infected patients. The upregulation of lung complement anaphylatoxins, C5a, and C3a was positively correlated with IL-8, RANTES, and the fatality rate.
