Podium34 Joins Key Utah Families and Giving Organizations Together

Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 has unveiled a historic fundraising initiative, uniting key Utah philanthropic families and giving organizations together to support the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, while also addressing key sport and community causes. Podium34 is the first of its kind in scale and scope for an Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee.

During an announcement event at the Organizing Committee’s headquarters in Salt Lake City, 22 Founding Captains and Donors of Podium34 were recognized, including several anonymous. They included Utah families and nonprofit foundations, the charitable arms of Utah corporations, and other giving organizations engaged in cause-related work within the state.

The Organizing Committee for the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games has set a target of $300 million in revenue for the program. At its public launch on Sept. 8, Podium34 reported over $200 million in founder commitments to date – the largest-ever philanthropic campaign in support of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“The Games have an extraordinary power to unify,” said 2034 President and Executive Chair Fraser Bullock. “This is the first time a host for the Olympic and Paralympic Games has seen anything like this. We are deeply grateful to our donors for making it possible. Their leadership is a vital part of our commitment to host financially successful Games.”

Among the 22 donors of Podium34, nine are Founding Captain donors, each with a commitment of $20 million or more. Additional Founding Donors will contribute between $1 million and $15 million each.

A unique feature of the program is the opportunity for Founding Captains to see their support reflected in meaningful sport and community initiatives within the organizing committee. These may include efforts around education, youth sports, mental health, arts and culture, community engagement, and other priorities that capture the spirit of the Games.

Salt Lake City-Utah was elected to host the 2034 Games in July 2024 – nearly a decade ahead of the Games. The organizing committee was formed in February 2025, nine years before the opening ceremony. The extra runway has enabled the organizing committee to innovate new ideas, such as Podium34, to benefit the Winter Games, sport, and Utah communities.

“As a native Utahn, I am proud of our state and have deep gratitude for these families and giving organizations,” said 2034 CEO and Vice Chair Brad Wilson. “In the true Utah way of service to others, they have stood up to support something that will have a positive impact across our state, but also to set an example for the world of the values for which our state stands.”

“Utah is fortunate to have families and organizations deeply committed to advancing vital causes across our state,” said Catherine Raney Norman, vice president of development and athlete relations for the 2034 Games and a four-time Olympic speed skater who chaired the bid and has led the Podium34 initiative. “Behind every great athlete, and every great Games, is a dedicated team. We are grateful to our Podium34 Founding Captains and Donors for serving as that vital team, reflecting how Utahns come together to build, create, and make a lasting impact in their communities.”

International Olympic Committee President Kirsty Coventry addressed the Podium34 donors in a message from the IOC office in Lausanne. “To the Utah families and giving organizations of Podium34, thank you. You are the heart of this new chapter. Your belief, your vision, and your leadership are powerful elements of the Utah legacy. As Founding Captains and Donors of Podium34, you’re taking the helm of something unprecedented. And you’ve chosen to lead, from the very beginning, to fuel the heart of this movement. You are sending a powerful message to the world that sport can inspire, that communities can be lifted, and that, together, we can build something greater than ourselves.”

The uniquely Utah Podium34 roster brings together families and giving organizations that have long been focused on the people of Utah, exemplifying the state’s sense of community and serving others.

With Podium34, Utah is not only preparing to host the world in 2034, but also investing in the generations who will carry the Olympic and Paralympic spirit forward. By uniting philanthropy, sport, and community, Podium34 ensures that the impact of these Games will be felt long after the flame is extinguished, creating a lasting legacy for sport and for communities across the state.

The Daniels Fund
The Daniels Fund, a private charitable foundation established by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The Fund is dedicated to improving lives in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming through grants and higher education scholarships. Its giving focuses on eight priority areas: amateur sports, disabilities, drug and alcohol addiction, early childhood education, homelessness and the disadvantaged, K-12 education reform, and youth development. The Daniels Scholarship Program is among the most generous in the nation, offering up to a full-ride scholarship to high-achieving high school seniors across the Fund’s four-state region.

“Bill Daniels believed in the power of sport to shape character, open doors, and spark big dreams. The Daniels Fund is proud to carry that vision forward through investing in young people who will become the athletes, leaders, and trailblazers of 2034 and beyond. This is about building a future where all young people have access to the transforming impact of sport.”
Hanna Skandera, President & CEO, Daniels Fund

George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation

The Foundation supports projects and programs that have the potential to make a significant difference in bettering Utah’s communities and enriching the quality of life of its citizens.

“Our family was incredibly proud to be part of the 2002 Winter Games, an event that united our community and showcased not only the world’s fastest ice and the greatest snow on Earth, but also Utah’s kind, hard-working, and generous people. Now we have the rare opportunity to host a second Olympics and, just as we did in 2002, Utah will pull out all the stops in 2034. As Founding Captains, we’re thrilled to be part of this historic effort to make sure we leave a lasting Olympics legacy for generations of Utahns to come.”
Spencer Fox Eccles, Chairman and CEO of the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation

The Garff family believes in the power of education and opportunity to unlock the potential of every young person. The Olympic and Paralympic Games inspire future generations to dream big — on the field of play and in the classroom. Podium34 will help create pathways that encourage youth to strive for excellence in both sport and learning.”

Headquartered in Utah, Maverik fuels both adventures and communities—through convenience, corporate philanthropy, and a deep investment in the communities and regions it serves. Maverik believes in the importance of charitable giving, a commitment that strengthens communities and celebrates Utah’s spirit of energy and adventure, much like the Games themselves.

“At Maverik, we believe adventure and possibility are part of Utah’s DNA. The Olympic and Paralympic Games embody that same spirit — pushing boundaries, igniting passion, and inspiring communities. Through Podium34, we’re proud to fuel this journey and help create experiences that will inspire the next generation across our state and beyond.

“Our family has always believed in the power of sport and the importance of coming together to strengthen our communities. Serving as Podium34

Captains reflects that same spirit – supporting the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and helping build a community effort with lasting impact. This is an opportunity to invest in what makes Utah so special. We’re proud to stand with our Podium34 teammates who care deeply about the future of the place we call home.”

Our support of Podium34 reflects our commitment to ensuring the 2034 Winter Games leave a meaningful and lasting legacy for our state and its communities.”
Steven Price and Jennifer Price-Wallin of the John and Marcia Price Family Foundation

Ryan and Ashley Smith Foundation

Their giving embodies Olympic ideals by inspiring belonging, growth, and community.

“We are all in Utah, this amazing place we’re proud to call home. Utahns are deeply community-oriented, family-centered, and service-driven. These values make Utah an ideal host for the Games, and we look forward to showing the world how these values continue to shape such an incredible place to live, work, and play.
